Full schedule follows after NAIA teams arrive

Rome will welcome the University of Sioux Falls and Carroll College to battle it out at Barron Stadium on Saturday for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship.

There will be a host of events during the week leading up to the 4:30 p.m. football game. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased at

The Forum box office or online at forumevents.org.

The following is the current schedule of events:
  • Both teams are expected to arrive in Rome on Wednesday and will be greeted by officials of the Host Committee from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The timing could be impacted by weather.

  • Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. — Fellowship of Christian Athletes, “Champions of Character Breakfast” at The Forum presented by Chick-fil-A and Shorter University’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

    The ceremony will include the inaugural NAIA High School Champion of Character Award presentation and an address by Todd Wheeler, a former player for the New Orleans Saints. Wheeler got his start playing for Pepperell High School and the University of Georgia.

    This is open to the public. Admission is $25 for an individual ticket or $300 for a sponsor’s table of 10. Tickets can be purchased at The Forum box office or online at forumevents.org.

  • Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.- Players will visit local schools to meet students as part of their Champions of Character Activities.

    USF will visit Garden Lakes Elementary School and North Heights Elementary School.

    Carroll College will visit Midway Primary School and Main Elementary School.

  • Thursday, 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.- Press conference hosted by the city of Rome, Rome News-Tribune and WLAQ at Darlington School’s Huffman Center.

  • 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.- Welcome dinner hosted by First Baptist Church of Rome and First Methodist Church

  • Friday, 9:15 a.m.- Carroll will visit St. Mary’s Catholic School.

  • Friday, 6:30 p.m.- NAIA Banquet of Championships presented by Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Hospitality Association of Rome and Floyd County at The Forum is open to the public.

  • 8 p.m.- “FANatic Friday” presented by Business Improvement District.

    8 p.m.- Music begins

    8:15 p.m.- Banquet ends

    8:20 p.m.- Winning Cheer team performs

    8:25 p.m.- Unity Christian Steel Band performs

    8:30 p.m.- Formal program begins

  • Saturday, noon- Tailgating on the levee opens
