A Floyd County man is facing several felony charges in connection with two of three armed robberies that occurred early Wednesday morning, March 7, and police officials are continuing to search for a suspect in the other.

Brandon Lee Edwards, 28, of 2439 Wax Road, Aragon, is accused of robbing the Marathon Store at 2918 Martha Berry Highway at 12:34 and the Citgo Store at 3173 Martha Berry Highway at 12:45 a.m. using a small handgun.

Acting on an anonymous tip, police found a small-framed handgun while searching a room occupied by Edwards at the South Winds Inn during a search Wednesday, according to a news release from Maj. Mark Wallace of the Floyd County Police Department.

The motel is just a short distance away from where the two stores were robbed.

Police also found some cash and methamphetamine in the motel room, according to the report.

Edwards is charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of pointing a pistol at another, two counts of carrying a pistol without a license, two counts of possession of firearms by a convicted felon and one count of possession of methamphetamine.

Police are continuing to look for the person responsible for an armed robbery at A1 Food and Beverage, 203 Burnett Ferry Road, which occurred before the two robberies on Martha Berry Boulevard, Wallace said.

“Right now we don’t consider him (Edwards) a suspect,” Wallace said. “Some aspects are different.”

Anyone with information about the A1 Food and Beverage robbery can call the Floyd County Police Department at 706-235-7766.

Based upon the ages of other Rome area meth heads who have been lucky enough to have had their photos displayed for our pleasure, I'd have to say that this guy is either 9 or 10.

I've been saving up for years for a chance to vacation at the South Winds or one of the other fine inns along US 27. At least he got half a day to enjoy the amenities. If I was only so lucky, or good at stealing.

IF THE 5 COUNTY COPS THAT WERE CALLED TO HIS WAX RD. HOME ON SUNDAY PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT HAD NOTICED HIS OBVIOUS METH ADDICTION WAS THE CAUSE FOR HIM FIGHTING HIS METHED OUT GIRLFRIEND IN FRONT OF THEIR TWO SMALL CHILDREN, WRECKING A CAR..IN HIS OWN FRONT YARD, AND PROCEEDING TO BUST OUT WINDOWS OF THE HOUSE WHILE THE BABIES WERE INSIDE...MAYBE THEY WOULD HAVE ARRESTED HIM THEN AND NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I THOUGH GA HAD THE TOUGHEST FAMILY VIOLENCE ACT..NO TOLERANCE ON CRUELTY TO CHILDREN. INSTEAD THEY LET HIM GET IN A VEHICHLE WITH THE CHILD AND RIDE AWAY!! IF I EVEN THINK ABOUT SPANKING MY KIDS IN PUBLIC I WOULD BE ARRESTED!! THE BALL SLIPPED OUT OF FLOYD COUNTY POLICE DEPT.'S HANDS ON THIS ONE!! THIS GUY IS OBVIOUSLY A DANGER TO SOCIETY**AND MORE IMPORTANTLY HIS OWN CHILDREN!!
