Rome police are investigating a burglary that was reported at a home on Heritage Way.

According to police reports:

The victim said he had been away for several days but had a neighbor keeping an eye on the residence.

The neighbor called about 10:50 a.m. Saturday to say the back door to the home was standing wide open. When the victim arrived, he determined that $100 in coin, a 46-inch flat screen television and a surround sound system — together valued at $2,000 — were missing.

The victim said it appeared the intruder had rummaged through a number of items in the house.
