CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A former Charlotte school teacher now living in Georgia has been accused of having improper conduct with a student 30 years ago.

Seventy-three-year-old Monte Sue Diebolt of Statesboro, Ga., is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.

A man who was a sixth-grade student at the time told police that he had been forced to touch Diebolt inappropriately and against his will at Marie G. Davis School during the 1982-83 school year.

Melissa Owen says her 41-year-old client decided to come forward last year after talking with his family.

Diebolt's attorney, George Laughrun, said Tuesday the woman will plead not guilty.

She taught at the elementary school from 1972 until 1985, when she moved to a junior high school in Charlotte.
