“It’s been too long since I’ve been back to Berry,” McHugh said. “It brings back a lot of great memories to be back on campus.”
McHugh, who pitched at Berry College from 2006-08, had four starts for the Mets at the end of last season.
“Obviously it was a dream come true to play in the majors,” said McHugh.
McHugh was drafted out of Berry by the Mets in the 18th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. McHugh was 13-9 with five saves for the Vikings during his collegiate career. He joined the Mets organization following his junior year at Berry.
McHugh and his wife live in Atlanta in the offseason. He has been training for the 2013 season.
“As for this year, I’m just looking to play well in Spring training and let the chips fall where they may,” McHugh said.
