Heather Anne Lovelace and Blair Robert Carter were married on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., at Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome.

The bride is the daughter of James and Louise Lovelace of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Beverly Chandler, the late James Lovelace Jr., and the late John and Kathrine Dana.

The groom is the son of Paul and Janice Carter of Rome. He is the grandson of Martha Lee, the late Ray Lee and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carter.

Reverend Monty Stallins performed the double-ring ceremony. The church was decorated with Christmas greenery and two Chrismon trees placed at the front of the church. Four candelabras at the altar were adorned in red bows. Family pews were marked with an arrangement including douglas fir greenery, gold ribbon, and red bows.

The wedding program attendants, Kelsea and Holly Murdock, greeted the guests followed by a groomsman who ushered the guests to their seats.

Organist Neil Sanders of Rome provided the music. Selections included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Christmas Canon,” “The Bridal Chorus” and “The Wedding March.”

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, chose a simple ivory taffeta gown. The ballgown-style dress featured a sweetheart neckline with ruching that enveloped the bodice and continued into a V-shaped waistline that lightly hugged the bride’s right hip. The back of the dress was covered in buttons to the end of the waistline and from there extended into a chapel train. She wore a birdcage veil adorned with a beaded ivory flower headpiece. She carried a hand bouquet of all white including peonies, ranunculus, and roses wrapped in white satin.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Haulk of Rome, Amie Linville Goedeke of Athens, Holly Reppert of Rome, Dani McLean Cleckler of Rome, Shellie Bowling of Rome, and Nikki McLean of Rome. They wore knee-length marine satin dresses of differing styles. They each wore matching vintage pearl and rhinestone stud earrings, which were gifts from the bride. They carried hand-tied bouquets of green roses, green spider mums, and green hypericum berries.

Paul Carter, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen included Lee Carter, brother of the groom, of Rome, Jae Wise of Rome, Nathan Howle of Atlanta, Craig Burtzlaff of Albany, Matt McGill of Rome, Jonathan Lester of Rome and Matt Jordan of Rome. The men wore gray tux and vest combinations with navy ties. Boutonnieres were made of green button mums and hypericum berries, except the groom who wore a single white rose.

The mother of the bride wore a formal floor-length bronze gown. The gown featured an empire waist accented with rhinestones, a flowing full skirt, and matching jacket with three quarter length sleeves. The mother of the groom wore a formal floor length eggplant gown. The gown featured a modified sweetheart neckline with ruching in the bodice, and was accented with a portrait cape.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Forrest Place in Rome. Refreshments included a three tier cake with layers consisting of red-velvet, strawberry, and white cake with caramel filling all covered in a white butter cream frosting. The cake was displayed on a slab of cypress that will be made into a commemorative table by the bride and groom. The groom’s chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing was adorned with a toy monster truck.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Coosa Country Club in Rome.
