Segarra was 9-for-17 from the field, hit two 3-pointers and converted all three of her free throws. Former Coosa star Mel McLean added 13 points, and Megan Walsh came off the bench to contribute 10 for the visiting Vikings.
Millsaps improved to 11-8 and 7-1 in the SAA. Berry dropped to 9-9 and 4-4.
The Majors held a 35-25 lead at halftime. The Lady Vikings closed the gap to 41-36 with 15:16 left after McLean made a three-pointer but got no closer.
“We are out-playing teams in the second half but are not aggressive enough in the first half, and you just can’t do that on the road,” said Berry head coach Stephanie Dunn. “The game was much closer than the score indicated, but we had to foul in the last few minutes. Give them credit for making their free throws.”
Both teams shot 42 percent from the field. The Majors, however, had 61 attempts to 50 for the Lady Vikings. The Majors held a 34-31 lead in rebounds. The Vikes committed 20 turnovers and the home team had just nine miscues.
Berry hosts Sewanee on Friday at 6 p.m.

MILLSAPS 72, BERRY 53
Nick Cortese had a season-high 24 points as Millsaps knocked off the Berry men’s basketball team on Sunday.
Jonathan Abrams led the Vikings with 14 points. Freshman Jake Wright tallied 12 points in a reserve role.
Lake Graham pulled in a game-high nine rebounds for the Vikes.
Millsaps owned a 39-27 lead at halftime. The Majors shot 56 percent (30-for-53) to 39 percent (22-for-56) for the Vikings. Both teams had 29 rebounds.
“We rebounded the ball much better tonight,” said Viking head coach Jeff Haarlow. “We struggled to defend them off the dribble. They are a well-coached team.”
Berry dropped to 4-15, 1-7 in the SAA. Millsaps improved to 4-15, 2-6.
The Vikings host Sewanee on Friday at 8 p.m.
BERRY COMPETES AT HUNTER SEAT
INVITATIONAL
The Berry College Hunt Seat Team competed at the Bridgewater Hunter Seat Invitational this weekend. This invitational was a “Nationals’ caliber” show with some of the top teams in attendance. Berry placed fourth out of 22 teams.
Berry accumulated 28 points. Host Bridgewater posted 35 points; Bridgewater’s second team tallied 31 points; and Delaware Valley was third with 30 points.
The Tournament of Champions Medal Class was created for the top 22 riders in the country to compete in a format similar to the Cacchione Cup, which occurs at Nationals. Nicole Roos placed seventh in the class after both the flat and over fences phase.
The Vikings return to action Feb. 9-10 at the University of Georgia.
