Two men were arrested Sunday after they allegedly took a vehicle from a person they helped move, according to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports.

According to the reports:

Terry Dewayne Burgess, 45, of 110 Holcomb Road, Adairsville, and John Clifford Carter, 46, of 134 Stewart Road, Calhoun, took a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, the property of another, with the intent of depriving the owner.

The two were helping the owner of the vehicle move to a residence in Rome on Saturday and took the Jeep to Burgess’ home in Adairsville after the owner fell asleep late Saturday night.

Both were charged with felony theft by taking an automobile. Burgess was being held for a probation violation, and both remained in jail Sunday night, Jan. 27, without bond.
