The $2,500 in reported damage caused during a burglary at The Sports Page far exceeds the $3 in pocket change stolen during the incident, according to a Floyd County police report.

According to the report:

An employee arriving to work at The Sports Page, 1711 Dean Ave., on Thursday morning discovered that a door on the left side of the building had been forced open overnight.

The employee told police that the coin doors on two video poker machines were pried open and were off their hinges. Damage to the machines was reported at $2,000.

Five hundred dollars worth of damage to a pool table was also reported, as the mechanical coin insert was broken off, and approximately $3 in quarters was taken out of the machine.

No suspect has been named, and the incident is still under investigation.

When & why did Dean Street become Dean Avenue? I've lived in the Rome area for 46 years and up until maybe 10(?) years ago, it was Dean STREET. Dean Street sounded better. It had a kind of rhythm & just rolled off the tongue easier. Dean Avenue just doesn't sound right.

I to have lived in Rome my whole life. My husband and I have discussed this same thing many times. We to have know idea when or why there was or wasn't a change to Dean "whatever". Also on the same topic, we have discovered that same situation with Maple St. Or Maple Rd. When trying to send a family member a gift purchased online. After many weeks they never received it, so I called the company and it was never sent because there system could not match a Maple st. After a lengthy phone call, I ask her to try Maple Rd. And wow it went right through! I guess it's just one of things!

Same as Martha Berry blvd-when you pass Harbin clinic it's Martha Berry Hwy.
