A Rome man was jailed on misdemeanor and felony charges after he was arrested on traffic and theft charges but later was alleged to have given police false information while being booked.

According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:

Phillip Broome, 25, of 697 Bryant Road, was jailed on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after he was caught speeding by Floyd County Police on Eden Valley Road around 11 p.m. Friday night.

Reports stated after being stopped and found to have no insurance and a suspended registration, Broome admitted to having stolen flags in his possession. One of two American flags was later identified to be owned by a Floyd County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

While being booked at the jail, Broome was alleged to have given police a false name — Jason Gaylord Ledbetter — and a false date of birth.

He was being held without bail on felony charges of forgery in the first degree and interference with government property. Broome was also being held on misdemeanor charges of theft by taking, criminal trespass, obstruction of law enforcement officers, giving false information to law enforcement, suspended registration, no insurance and speeding.
