At least four motor vehicle wrecks occurred before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in what were described as foggy and wet conditions, according to Rome police reports.

According to four separate reports:

At 7:28 a.m., a Rome woman driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan struck a 2009 Nissan Rogue when turning left on Martha Berry Highway from John Davenport Drive. No injuries were reported.

The first of three reported rear-end collisions occurred at 8:24 a.m. on Three Rivers Drive at the East Rome Bypass when a Rome woman’s 2002 Toyota Rav4 struck the rear of a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero.

The driver and passenger in the Alero both complained of injuries.

An Armuchee man driving a 1994 Ford Ranger struck the rear of a 1997 Toyota Avalon at 8:58 a.m. on Martha Berry Boulevard near the Berry College service road.

No injuries were reported.

The final wreck reported to occur in foggy, wet conditions came at 9:20 a.m. when a Rome woman’s 2001 Dodge Durango struck the rear of a 2007 Lincoln Navigator at Martha Berry Boulevard and North Second Avenue.

Two occupants of the Navigator were reported as injured.

I'm honestly surprised there weren't dozens more, considering how many completely mindless and insensitive idiots were out on the road yesterday morning without their headlights on.

And seriously, just putting on your parking lights doesn't help. I don't know if think you're saving the battery in your car or something, but just turn your little dial one more click and prevent the rest of us from pulling out right in front of you.
