ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say a 79-year-old Atlanta woman has been arrested on drug charges after police found nine pounds of marijuana in her home.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Norma Cheren is being held in the Fulton County Jail.

Police say they followed one of Cheren's alleged customers after hearing about a possible drug deal and found marijuana in the woman's car. Police say the woman told authorities where she bought the drug and Cheren was arrested Thursday after police raided her house.

Authorities say they found a large container full of marijuana and more than $130,000 in cash stored in metal lunchboxes.

A court-appointed attorney told a Fulton County magistrate that Cheren was scheduled to have hip surgery this week. She is being held on $25,000 bond.

Give her some jail time. Quit crying Liberals. Marijuana is illegal and should be. Liberals and potheads are a big part of the dumbing down of America. I wonder if she claimed her large income she was making on her taxes? I doubt it.

Cops that go around abusing people, killing people, taking bribes from people, and lying to cover everything up is also illegal and should be. Quit crying Enforcers. Cops and their protected buddies are a big part of the killing of America. I wonder if they claim their bribe money on their taxes.

Marijuana should be legal, just like it was up until 60 or so years ago. Now go try to force your ignorant brainwashed opinion on someone that cares. As you can see by the majority of these other posts, you'll more than likely be outnumbered on this topic. Oh, and BTW, just wondering how it feels to know that many of those that agree with you on this topic just happen to be drug dealers that don't want to be put out of business?

So my not agreeing with this means that I hate cops and the rule of law? Just like the place you appear to be representing, you are pathetic. What I do hate are laws that were inacted, and still on the books, for nothing more than mere oppression and suppression. As far as cops, I don't care for the ones, and those that support them, that think they are above the rest of us. Is that too much for you to comprehend? You know. Free thought?

MmmHmm, if you disagree with the law, you still have to respect it. That's part of being a mature adult. Do something to change it; don't break it, or move to where it's legal.

Black, white, old or young...she is a drug dealer. She makes drugs available for kids. Makes me sick.

besmarterthanthat - Be smarter than that. I am involved with trying to change it. How many times can I say I don't break it (or should we go back to my other comment instead of me having to re-type what I've already said in here)? In short, I don't use it but I do believe it should be legalized. And where did you see anyting about her making anything available to kids? Make things up much?

This is ridiculous! It should be legal anyway. Leave the old lady alone! Go find some Meth heads or something to arrest!

I wonder how many family members live at this address? How many government checks arrive each month? Is her cell phone a free government issued phone?

Actually, wish2010, she's a white retiree that just happens to live in Buckhead. I guess this pretty much blows your insinuations right out of the water, huh? Also, she is scheduled to have hip surgery this week. Her bail is set at $25,ooo but apparently can't get released. Interestingly, not all members of the Greatest Generation fell victim to the weed is evil brainwashing. The true evil here is assinine law.
