Lowrey wins 3rd place in Corn Yield Contest

John Lowrey of Floyd County recently won third place in the A No-Till/Strip-Till Non-Irrigated division of the 2012 National Corn Growers’ Association’s Corn Yield Contest in Georgia. Lowrey won with Pioneer brand hybrid P2088R, which yielded 195 bushels per acre.

The NCGA awarded 421 state titles in this year’s contest.

The NCGA Corn Yield Contest is an annual competition among corn producers with the goal of producing the highest yields. In the contest, growers compete within a broad range of corn production classes, including non-irrigated, no-till/strip-till non-irrigated, no-till/strip-till irrigated, ridge-till non-irrigated, ridge-till irrigated and irrigated classes.
