The ride home on bus 11-07 was delayed for students in Armuchee after a vehicle struck the bus in the rear, according to Floyd County Schools Assistant to the Superintendent Tim Hensley.

Hensley said the collision happened around 1:45 p.m. Thursday on Little Texas Valley Road. There was no visible damage to the bus and very little damage to the front of the car, he added.

Floyd County police spokesman Jerome Poole said the driver, Robin Dockery, received a citation for following too closely after her 2006 Chevrolet Malibu rolled into the rear of the bus while both vehicles were stopped. Dockery’s age and place of residence were not available Thursday.

All students and the bus driver were checked by medical personnel at the site as a precaution.

Only a female high school student complained of neck pain. Her parents were notified and she was taken to a local hospital, Hensley said.

A second bus picked up the students and took them home after receiving clearance from police and medical personnel on the scene. Hensley said the students were likely home by 4 p.m.
