A TALE OF TWO GREATER ROMES: In the city, chickens basically being raised for eggs have essentially been outlawed. In the unincorporated area, Animal Control is called out to pursue a homeowner’s escaped 6-foot-tall emu (kin to the ostrich), apparently legally being raised for meat, and it ultimately has to be “put down.” Does the city have regulations against emus as well or could the bird have raced for Rome proper and asked for sanctuary?
