A Rome man was charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a woman earlier this week, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Thomas William Ellis, 51, of 1001 Wayside Road, is also charged with probation violation.

He remained in the Floyd County Jail on Friday morning.
