Report: Man used church account to pay bill

Police say a Rome man received $100 in assistance to pay his power bill from a church, then continued to pay his power bill through the church’s bank account without their permission.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Joseph Lee Stringer, 29, of 8 Burr Drive, is charged with misdemeanor theft by taking for using $351 to pay his power bill.

He was released from jail on $1,300 bond.
