Man facing controlled substance charges

A Rome man was jailed Sunday morning after a traffic stop in the Coosa area that turned up drugs not in their original container, police said.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Norman James Hood, 36, of 6 Birchfield Drive, was stopped by Floyd County police around 3 a.m. Sunday on Georgia 20 at Salem Dr.

Officers recovered small quantities of hydrocodone and alprazolam, which were not in their original drug container, which resulted in two felony charges of possession of controlled substances. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for having the drugs outside of their original container and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol. He remained in jail with no bond set Sunday night.
