University spokeswoman Elizabeth Stone says the Southwire company has given the school $1.1 million to fund a program to help undergraduates complete business studies and earn an MBA in four years. Stone says the gift is the largest ever donation to the university's business school.
The honors program is aimed at teaching students financial stability along with environmental responsibility. The program begins this fall and students will have opportunities to work as Southwire interns and participate in the company's engineering academy.
Southwire is the leading wire and cable producer in North America and manufactures products ranging from sound and communications cords to utility and industrial power cables.
