Woman charged with public drunkenness

Authorities say they arrested a Rome woman Friday night on accusations she caused a scene while drunk at Chili’s.

Meredith Gowan, 43, of 1321 Cedar Ave., is charged with two felony counts of obstruction of a law enforcement officer and one misdemeanor count of public drunkenness, reports state.

According to authorities, Gowan caused a scene about 8 p.m. while in an indecent and intoxicated state. She then resisted arrest, kicking two officers and refusing to put her hands behind her back.
