The Shorter women’s basketball team dropped its season finale at Alabama-Huntsville, 69-63, on Saturday.

The Lady Chargers held an 18-point lead at the break, 39-21, before a second half charge by the Lady Hawks brought the game close in the second half.

But Shorter (15-11, 10-8 GSC) was unable to get any closer than six points late in the game.

Former Model star Shelby Farrer led the Lady Hawks with 14 points, and pulled in six rebounds.

Lynette Harris had a game-high 10 rebounds and scored seven points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: UAH 77, Shorter 73

The Hawks made a road trip to Huntsville and suffered a tough loss as No. 6 Alabama-Huntsville completed a season sweep by downing Shorter, 77-73.

The Hawks had a two-point half time lead, aided by the shooting of Brandon Pullman.

Pullman was 4-for-4 from the floor in the first half, including three 3-pointers to score 11 points. He was held scoreless in the final 20 minutes, however.

The second half saw Shorter (15-11, 9-9 GSC) connect on just 35 percent from the floor.

The Chargers were able to connect on 40 percent in the second half, and once they were able to tie the game, 44-44, with 15:59 remaining to play the Chargers would hold on to lead for the remainder of the game.

Anthony Banks scored 18 points for Shorter, Walter Hill and Kenny Leverette added 15 apiece, and Pullman scored 11 points.

Hill grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Dedric Ware had eight rebounds and seven assists.

For Alabama-Huntsville (22-4, 16-3 GSC), Jaime Smith led all scorers with 25 points, including going 13-for-13 from the free throw line.
