A Rome man was in the hospital Sunday night after the vehicle he was driving ran off of the road and flipped onto its roof, according to Rome Police.

According to Pfc. Israel Alamia:

Chong Sun Kim, 31, of Rome, was the only person in a silver Toyota Sequoia traveling south Sunday evening on Horseleg Creek Road just past the entrance to Marshall Forest around 7:30 p.m.

Rome Police Lt. Louis Johnson said Kim left the roadway when he clipped a tree and began flipping. The car ended up on its roof and the front bumper was torn off.

Kim was being treated at the Floyd Medical Center emergency room late Sunday night and had not been admitted. Preliminary reports were that he was alert and conscious when first responders arrived.

While a full report of Kim’s condition was not available, Alamia said he did sustain lacerations to the back of the head and “was lucky to be alive.”

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
