Former police officer charged with selling drugs, 3 others arrested

A former Rome Police officer was arrested at The Budget Inn at 3005 Martha Berry Boulevard on Monday evening and charged with several drug violations, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Ambar Monica Velazquez, 32, of 15 Elizabeth St., Rome, was allegedly found with Xanax, Oxycodone and a glass smoking device with methamphetamine residue.

Velazquez also had a ledger that showed drug sales, the report stated.

She is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a Schedule III, IV, or V controlled substance with the intent to distribute, felony possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to distribute, felony possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and a probation violation.

Velazquez was arrested last month on a charge of theft by taking and drug possession for stealing 500 Xanax from a local pharmacy where she was working.

She was fired from the Rome Police Department in 2011 for having a relationship with a known felon.

She pleaded guilty last year to misdemeanor theft by taking for not turning in her uniform and ticket books from the Rome Police Department and was on probation for that charge.

She is being held without bond.

Also arrested hotel were:

Christopher Lee Hawkins, 24, of 214 Park Ave., charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. He remained in jail on Tuesday morning on a $3,500 bond

Kylie Jade Hilliard, 23, of 12 Whispering Pine Road, charged with felony possession of a Schedule I or II con-trolled substance with the intent to distribute and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance. She is being held on a $16,700 bond.

Ashley Dawn Hawkins, 22, of 214 Park Ave., Lindale, charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She was released on a $1,300 bond.
