Jasmin Ellis, a Douglasville native, has signed a letter of intent to run for the Shorter Lady Hawks in the 2013-2014 academic year. She becomes the first signee in what looks to be another successful recruiting class for the reigning NCCAA Women’s Indoor National Champions.

“Jasmin is a quality student-athlete, and is a welcomed addition to the Shorter family,” commented assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Rochelle Black. “She solidifies our long sprint unit, and puts us in the right direction as we make our transition to the NCAA.”

Currently a senior at Chapel Hill High School, Ellis runs primarily the 400 and 200 meter dash. As a junior, she finished 5th in the 400 meter at the GHSA AAAA State Championships. Never one to be one dimensional, Jasmin splits her time as a competitive cheerleader, National Honor Society, and French Honor Society, and serves as the Vice President of the FCCLA as well.

“I couldn’t begin to tell you how excited we are to have Jasmin on board,” an elated head coach Scott Byrd said. “Once she and I had a moment to sit and talk, I learned quickly that she’s a perfect fit for our program. Her family supports her and believes just as our staff does, that she’s got an ability that will do nothing but bloom. We’re fortunate to have such a great new addition to the team and school.”
