Police: Employee stole $1,600 in merchandise from Dollar General

A Rome woman turned herself into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday on a felony theft charge, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Michelle Penson, 26, of 108 Ross St., took $1,600 of merchandise from the Dollar General, 434 Shorter Ave., where she worked.

She is accused of taking the merchandise between July 1, 2012 and Feb. 27 of this year.

She remained in the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday afternoon.
