FRIDAY BLOG: How to fix Washington?

THE BIG NEWS of the week, judging by sound and fury, is that the Atlanta Falcons are going to get their new billion-dollar-plus, retractable-dome stadium and that Tony Gonzales, the team’s all-everything tight end, isn’t retiring after all but will play (at least) one more season.

Does this mean if Georgia sends Arthur Blank, the Falcons owner, to Washington that the federal debt would be erased and the budget balanced in a week’s time? Might be worth a shot given that the Falcons appear able to work miracles ... well, except for the one called winning the Super Bowl.
