Officers arrested a man late Sunday night after he allegedly tried to break his way into a home in West Rome, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Johnny Wesley Highfield, 52, of 5 Payne Road, Rome, attempted to bust down or pry open the door of the victim’s residence and then made threatening statements to the victim on the telephone that were overheard by an officer.

Upon his arrest, Highfield was found to be in possession of a three to three-and-a-half-inch knife.

He was charged with felony possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
