The student-athletes have been accepted at Berry and will join the program for its inaugural football season in September.
They join 46 other incoming freshman who previously announced their commitments.
The commits are Bryce Bailey (Gordon Lee), Sam Barrett (Salado, Texas), Derek Bass (LaBelle, Fla.), Ryan Carter (Stanton College Prep, Jacksonville, Fla.), Will Chomskis (Vidalia), Caleb Coble (Columbia, Tenn.), Joe Cook (Walton), Christopher Dorrill (Naples, Fla.), Dino Dorris (Woodland), Matt Farinella (Neptune Beach, Fla.), Carter Edwards (Calhoun), Athanasios Halkias (Tampa, Fla.), Aidan Hall (Grace Baptist Academy), Alex Hillis (McMinnville, Tenn.), Evan Holt (Melbourne, Fla.), Kaleb King (Northwest Whitfield), Ryne McCoy (Ooltewah, Tenn.), Sandon Mims (St. Augustine, Fla.), Preston Stewart (Riverwood International Charter School) and Connor Webber (Gilmer).
Bryce Bailey joins Berry football from Chickamauga. Ga., and Gordon Lee High School. A linebacker, he lettered four years in both football and baseball. He was selected to both the North/South Georgia and the Tennessee/Georgia All Star Games. Bailey was picked to the AJC All-State Second Team, and the 6A All-Region First team. He was his team's defensive player of the year and a team MVP. The son of Christi and Chris Bailey, Bryce plans to major in business at BC.
Joining the Vikings from Salado High School in Salado, Texas is Sam Barrett. A linebacker, he was a two-time all-district pick and twice was named team captain. A four-year starter, Barrett also played basketball and tennis. He is active in student council, FCA and his church youth group. The son of Lori and Kurt Barrett, Sam intends to study both kinesiology and business administration at Berry College.
Defensive back Derek Bass comes from LaBelle (Fla.) High School. He also played basketball and baseball as a prep. Bass was selected the District 18 Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year in football and basketball. In the classroom, he earned the science, chemistry, pre-claculus, Spanish and biology student-of-the-year honors. He will graduate Summa Cum Laude Honors and is a member of the National Honors Society. The son of Tammy and Ricky Bass, Derek intends to major in engineering at Berry College.
Linebacker Ryan Carter arrives via Stanton College Prep and Jacksonville, Fla. He was a coaches' award winner, defensive captain, and a four-year varsity letterwinner. Carter is a member of Thespian Honors Society, National Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. The son of Christy and Christopher Carter, Ryan will pursue a degree in communications at Berry.
Will Chomskis is a wide receiver from Vidalia (Ga.) High School. He was selected first team all-region and earned football's weightlifting award three times. Chomskis was tabbed first-team all-region in soccer and also participated in track. Chomskis is a member of the National Honors Society, the National Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The son of Candance and Lee Chomskis, Will plans to major in exercise science at BC.
Caleb Coble, a tight end, attends Zion Christian Academy and is from Columbia, Tenn. He was selected all-region honorable mention and was a four-year varsity letterman. An honor student, Coble also played basketball and was active in the theater stage crew and the FCA. The son of Jana and Scott Coble, Caleb will major in business management in college.
Offensive lineman Joe Cook arrives at Berry from Marietta, Ga. and Walton high School. A three-year football letterman, he earned offensive player of the week and Aaron Cleveland awards. Cook has been active in both the FCA and Young Life. The son of Kathy and Craig Cook, Joe intends to study music and business at Berry.
Christopher Dorrill hails from Naples, Fla. and attends First Baptist Academy. A running back, he was picked all-state, and all-area. Dorrill also played basketball and ran track. He is a member of the National Honors Society, Florida Senate 2012, and the Graduate Student Leadership University. The son of Sherri and Neil Dorrill, Christopher will major in business at Berry.
Dino Dorris, a linebacker, joins the Vikings from Woodland High School in Cartersville, Ga. He earned the District 5A Academic Award, and was selected defensive captain as a senior. Dorris was three-year scholar-athlete, and also played basketball and wrestled. He was named to the AB Honor Roll, is a member of the National Honor Society, and is active in FCA. The son of Connie and Menelous Dorris, Dino will be a exercise science major at Berry College.
Joining BC football from Fletcher High School and Neptune Beach, Fla. is linebacker Matt Farinella. He was a four-year varsity letterman, team captain, earned Coaches' Leadership award and recorded 103 tackles in his senior year. In wrestling, Farinella was a conference champion at 220 pounds. He is on the AB Honor Roll and member of National Honors Society and has served as a camp counselor for the Down Syndrome of America. The son of Becky and Pat Farinella, Matt will to study business at Berry.
Carter Edwards comes to Mount Berry from nearby Calhoun (Ga.) High School. A four-year varsity letterwinner, his team won the 2011 State Championship. A defensive back, Edwards was all-area first team, all-county, and was tabbed to the 7AA first team defense. He also wrestled, was in the Key Club, Beta Club, FCA, and the National Honors Society. The son of Lisa and Russ Edwards, Carter is undecided about his major at Berry College.
Athanasios Halkias arrives in Mount Berry from Tampa, Fla. and Gaither High School. A defensive lineman, he was a two-year letterwinner as a prep. Halkias earned the team's most improved player award as a senior. An Eagle Scout, he is in the National Honors Society, National Beta Club and Tri-M Music Honors Society. The son of Elaine and George Halkias, "Thanasi" will pursue an animal science degree at Berry College.
Offensive lineman Aidan Hall was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Grace Baptist Academy and is from Ringgold, Ga. He was also a shot-putter on the track team, and won both the Horizon Award for leadership and academics in sports and the JE Pre-Calculus honor. Hall is in the Beta Club, National Honor Society, served two mission trips to Romania, and was a Samaritan's Purse volunteer. The son of Susan and Tom Hall, Aidan expects to earn a degree in physics and engineering at Berry.
Alex Hillis, a defensive back, arrives from McMinnville, Tenn. and Warren County High School. He was an all-district selection in baseball and football. Hillis is a member of the National Honors Society, HOSA, and FBLA. The son of Kim and Kelly Hillis, Alex plans to study exercise science at Berry College.
Coming to Berry from Melbourne (Fla.) High School is linebacker Evan Holt. He was named offensive MVP, and was a Brevard County All Star. Holt also wrestled, was a member of SWAT. Evan is the son of Karen and Bruce Holt and is undecided of his major at Berry.
Kaleb King joins Berry from Dalton, Ga. and Northwest Whitfield High School. A defensive back, he lettered twice, was a team captain, won the Bruin Award for leadership on and off the field, and garnered the "Captain of the Community" honor from Atlanta Falcons. King was a three-year basketball letterman and a captain who led his team in assists and to a region title. The son of Rosemary and Scott King, Kaleb will be an engineering major in college.
Ryne McCoy, a defensive end, hails from Ooltewah, Tenn. and East Hamilton High School. A two-year letterman, he named the District 6AA Academic Athlete of the Year as a senior. His team won two district 6AA championships and made the state elite eight. McCoy is on the track team, in the top 10% of his class, and is involved in virtual enterprise, Beta Club, and the FCA. The son of Traci and Steve McCoy, Ryne intends to study finance at Berry College.
Quarterback Sandon Mims joins Berry from St. Augustine (Fla.) High School. He was the St. Johns County Football Player-of-the-year, earned the St. Augustine Top Jacket Award, was all-state honorable mention, and a second team all-region selection. He quarterbacked his teams to three district championships. Mims is a member of AICE, the honor roll, and was on the wrestling team. The son of Teresa and Jadie Rease Mims III, Sandin is undecided of his major at BC.
A dual-sport athlete, Preston Stewart intends to play football and lacrosse for Berry College. A football linebacker, he is finishing his prep career at Riverwood International Charter School. Stewart has lettered four years in football, and three times in lacrosse. He was selected all-region in football as a defensive lineman this past year. Stewart is an Eagle Scout and is active in his church. The son of Michelle Tart and Thomas Stewart, Preston is undecided of his college major.
Connor Webber, a defensive back, comes to BC football from Ellijay, Ga. and Gilmer High School. He was selected most outstanding receiver, team MVP, and was picked to the Georgia All-Star Team. An honor student, Webber also played basketball, and has been active in the Beta Club. The son of Michelle and Patrick Webber, Connor expects to major in education at Berry College.

Lady Hawks sweep Lee
The Shorter Tennis programs got back on the winning track by defeating the visiting Flames from Lee University from the Walt Attaway Tennis Complex.
The Lady Hawks (7-5) went undefeated in their efforts, picking up the 9-0 win.
The Hawks (6-6) faired well, picking up the 8-1 victory, while evening the record for the season.

Lady Vikings falls to Piedmont
After tying the game with four unanswered goals, Berry lost to Piedmont College, 10-5, at Ford Field.
Piedmont scored six of game’s final seven goals.
Berry fell to 4-5 overall. Piedmont remained perfect at 9-0.
Berry had two players record two-goal outings as Kristan Dziurzynski and Kim Fischer each picked up two, and Claire Rosenberg added two assists. Maggie McDonald and McDowell scored three apiece for Piedmont.
SHORTER WOMEN’S LACROSSE: Armstrong named NWLL Player of the Week
Shorter University sophomore Avery Armstrong has been selected as the National Women’s Lacrosse League Player of the Week, the league announced in a release late Tuesday.
Armstrong, a native of Marietta, helped the No. 2-ranked Lady Hawks (7-3) to a 3-1 record last week, a mark that included wins over NWLL foes St. Andrews and Tennessee Wesleyan, who were both ranked in the NWLL Top 10 Coaches’ Poll.
For the week, Armstrong tallied 16 goals, two assists, 16 draws and 16 ground balls. She led Shorter to a 19-9 win over then No. 4-ranked and previously unbeaten St. Andrews by scoring a career high eight goals, then followed up that performance with four goals in a win over Tennessee Wesleyan.
Armstrong leads Shorter in both goals (25) and total points (31) through 10 games this season. She also paces the team with 33 ground balls and 35 draw controls, ranking her among the league best in all four categories. She is the program’s first NWLL Player of the Week.
Armstrong and the Lady Hawks return to action on March 24 when they travel to Centre College for an 11 am contest.
