He was found Thursday and turned himself in without incident.

A Bartow County Sheriff’s deputy was accidentally shot in the leg during a warrant execution Monday.

According to Capt. Frank Cline of the Cartersville Police Department, Bartow Sheriff’s deputies were apparently trying to serve a warrant Monday morning for a man on Pine Grove Road when he fled on foot. Cline said one deputy got in front of a police dog and was accidentally jumped on, causing his gun to go off.

The deputy was taken to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment.

During a search for the suspect around lunchtime, Cartersville Primary School and Cartersville Elementary School were locked down just as a precaution.

The lockdown was lifted by the time school let out in the afternoon, and police suspended the search by 4 p.m
