Connect Rome is trying to start up a new holiday tradition in Rome with a free Christmas concert at The Nest following the Christmas parade Tuesday.
According to pastor Josh Roberts, the free concert will begin following the 6:30 p.m. parade and will feature traditional and modern holiday songs played by the Connect Rome band.
He said the point of the free concert was to create a family-friendly concert for Romans and to “create a great Christmas vibe.”
“We want to create a new tradition in Rome that every year we’ll have a great concert,” he said.
The Nest, 334 Broad St., will be selling pizza and soda during the concert along with the coffee shop’s normal specialty drink items. Proceeds from the sale of concessions at the concert will go to the Mountain Top Experience “to help hundreds of kids get toys for Christmas,” Roberts said.
The concert will last an hour and a half and will feature jazz, blues, rock and roll, and country-themed holiday tunes.
“We’re going to have a great rocked out version of the Little Drummer Boy,” he said.
