A Rome man was arrested Friday after police say he attempted to deposit and cash a series of counterfeit checks, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Corbin Dale Overman, 49, of 29 E. Kenora Drive, was charged with felony forgery in the first degree.

Overman allegedly attempted to deposit and cash a total of $1,500 in American Express Traveler’s checks which were counterfeit at Regions Bank on Shorter Avenue.

He remained in jail Friday night without bond.
