The annual Home and Garden Expo at The Forum continues today with 60 exhibitors on hand showing off the latest in home décor, remodeling and other services.

The doors will open at The Forum in downtown Rome at 1 p.m.

The expo, sponsored by South 107 FM, features everything from construction equipment to home audio and video solutions from both local and national companies.

Kitchen to Bath Crowe Countertops is a Calhoun-based business taking part in the event. Bruce Green and Jonathan Vaughn were on hand Saturday showing potential customers the variety of options available for kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects.

The biggest trend in their industry at the moment, Vaughn said, is price.

“They want everything on the cheap because of the economy,” he said.

Their business has been going through its ups and downs, but most of their customers have asked for remodels based on adding value to their homes.

“People looking to sell their homes are looking to remodeling and upgrades as an option,” Vaughn said. “Home owners who live in subdivisions are also looking to make their homes stick out.”

Kingston-based Premier Landscapes President Travis Pruiett said his customers are looking primarily at spaces that can be used as living areas.

“Specifically we’ve seen a lot of people ask for outdoor cooking areas, fire places and pits and water features,” he said.

For plant life, he said shrubs and flowers have been a popular option, especially knockout roses.

“It’s a very popular shrub because it has a 120-day bloom cycle,” he said.

National companies like Bath Fitter have seen growth in their business through the aging baby boomer population, according to Bonnie Brown.

“As they’re getting older and are finding it more difficult to get out of the tub, they’re looking at options to convert their bath tubs into showers,” she said. “We’ve also been doing this at a lot of hospitals as well.”

Other vendors on-hand include The Sound Solution, which brought its own home theater trailer to show off the variety of audiovisual products now available, and Super Handy Husband, which provides a variety of home improvement and repair services.

I'm sure the money spent on a booth would have been made back with the business you would have recieved from the event. If your boss is that cheap mabey the restaurant is not such a great place to eat. Also I'm pretty sure you weren't escorted off the property by security, did you not think to just attend the event and pass them out inside instead of causing yourself so much grief. Mabey not your dumb enough to work for such a cheap boss. Next time pay the five dollers to get in, then pass out the flyers, by the time someone catches you, you will hve been done.

My boss asked if I could go downtown and pass out pamphlets for our restaurant. I went to the forum 30 minutes before they opened for this event. I wanted to pass them out to the vendors so they could have a good meal afterward. I asked a person who was a staff member if i could, they said they didn't have a problem with it... they would check with another person, and that person said the same thing... who then directed me to another staff member, a very snobbish blond who told that i would have to pay a $300.00 vendor fee, or i would have to leave the property right away. I told her that my boss wouldn't be able to allow that kind of expense. I was then told that i would have to leave the property and i said OK. I left and 5 feet behind me security escorted me out... making sure i didn't pass anything out... Kudos to you Rome Forum, for supporting the local Rome Restaurants...
