Two people at the Starbucks on Turner McCall Boulevard reported a handgun-wielding man robbed them after-hours in the outside dining area of the business.

According to Rome police reports:

A man wearing a ski mask approached the two people with a pistol and told them “give me your money and empty your wallets.” When the victims showed the robber they didn’t have any money he stated, “you guys suck” and took a cell phone before fleeing.

Police apprehended a person fitting the description of the robber who was out of breath and sweating near Broad Street, but the two would-be victims could not positively identify the man.

The police later found clothing matching the description of the robber’s clothing and a firearm near the library, an approximate halfway point between the robbery and where they questioned the suspect.

Almost correct, coosatown, except that police do not respond to crimes which are happening. They respond to crimes that have already been committed.

The true power to stop crime is in the hands of the victim, hence why anyone who values their life, or the life of others would insist on being responsibly armed.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil: I carry a gun because I have seen evil, and intend to defend myself and others against it.

I am trying to understand ravishedRoman's rationale. Law enforcement arrives at a crime being committed by a person with a firearm. The officers should not have weapons? Maybe, then, the criminal will not feel fear and surrender and be arrested peacefully? Only victims should feel fear?

Yet another reason to carry.

Seriously, people, getting a permit will be the best $70 you ever spent. It's one hell of an insurance plan.

It shouldn't matter what time of day or who you are, it's not okay for masked gunman to roam the streets!

Starbucks employees today say this happened after they'd all left; they think maybe the victims were folks hanging outside at one of the outdoor tables on their patio.
