Randy Beach, the owner of Beach’s Bathtub, is answering the questions for today’s Small Business Snapshot.

What is the primary purpose of your business?

We restore bathtubs to a new look with a no-peel guarantee and they can be used the same day. There is absolutely no down time.

What is the business background of the owners?

I have been in the business for 14 years.

Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business?

The main reason I started the business was to be able to work for myself. I don’t have a background in this type of work but my wife’s uncle started this company and it was in the family. When I married her I got involved in the business.

What makes your business unique?

The process we use to do the tubs is unique in that we do not use paints, subsequently there is no peeling and the tub can be used the same day. It’s a four-step process. When we do a tub, depending on whether or not it needs to be stripped be-cause it has been painted before we put a sealer on it, then we put a glaze on it, put an enhancer on it then we recaulk the tub. It works for porcelain tubs or fiberglass tubs.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? I enjoy dealing with people and seeing their reaction when they see how good their tub looks.

What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner?

Having plenty of work to keep the business going. We also do gutter shields and roof stain removal. Those black streaks you see on people’s roof shingles, we remove those as well.
