While many of the faithful will be getting up early to celebrate Easter with a sunrise service, Berry College will offer a special way to end the day.

The college will offer an Easter Sunset service at 7 p.m. at the House O’ Dreams.

Interim Chaplain Jonathon Huggins, who is in his second year at Berry, will preside over the services, which will include refreshments. Huggins is also an adjunct instructor of religion at Berry and serves as pastor for the Mount Berry Church.

“The reason we chose a sunset service is that most of our students will be at home this weekend to be with their families for Easter,” said Sarah Thomas, a senior at Berry. “We wanted to have a service that they could come to and celebrate Easter with their Berry family.”

The service is open to the public and Thomas estimates that the lawn at the House O’ Dreams could accommodate close to 200 worshippers.

Parking will be provided at the Frost Chapel parking lot from which shuttles will take participants up to the House O’ Dreams. People are asked to be at the Frost Chapel before 6:30 p.m. Shuttles will begin at that time.

Thomas said the service would be outdoors on a knoll overlooking Lavender Mountain.
