On Tuesday, June 12 from 9:30a.m. to 3 p,m. at the Calhoun Depot there will be an opportunity for citizens and government officials to hear firsthand how cycling and pedestrian infrastructure can positively affect quality of life in the Northwest and North Central Georgia region. Bike! Walk! Northwest Georgia is hosting a free workshop and is excited to have Jeffrey Miller, President and CEO of The Alliance for Biking and Walking, based in Washington, D.C., as the keynote speaker. This organization’s mission is to create, strengthen and unite advocacy leaders who are transforming their communities into great places to bike and walk.

Also on hand to give first person testimonials and best practices from the successes of their cities, are Ty Ross, City of Dalton Administrator, and Philip Pugliese of Outdoor Chattanooga. Both men have seen great success in developing their respective bicycle and pedestrian facilities and their impact on improved quality of life and increased economic development.

There will also be a panel featuring a bike shop owner, the director of Bicycle Ride Across Georgia, representatives from disABILITY Link, NW, and a representative from the Northwest Georgia Tourism Department discussing pertinent issues, success stories, and next steps to promote the viability of cycling and walking in Georgia..
