A Calhoun woman is dead and her husband in jail following an apparent domestic dispute in Gordon County, reports stated.

According to a Calhoun Police Department release:

Windy Russell, 35, died Sunday at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., from gunshot wounds suffered in the Saturday incident.

Police were called to Russell’s 95 Fifth St. address Saturday in reference to reports of shots being fired. There, they found Russell on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound to the head and an unidentified man holding her husband, Gregory John Russell, down.

Windy Russell was taken to Gordon Hospital then airlifted to Erlanger.

Police believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute that got out of hand.

Gregory Russell, 46, remained in Gordon County Jail on murder charges today with no bail set. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing
