Cave Spring city council members will hear from the six applicants for the vacant city council position and decide who fills the position at their next meeting on June 10.

The Post 1 seat on the council has been vacant since councilman Robert Langston passed away on May 3.

City Attorney Gene Richardson explained to the board how interim members are appointed and what takes place in the case of a tie vote.

“In the case of a tie vote, the mayor will make a casting vote,” said Richardson.

The appointed member of the council will serve out the remainder of the term, around three years
