Storms moving through Floyd County could produce strong rains, wind, hail and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a special weather statement stating the unstable weather conditions could produce strong storms and there is a chance the storms could cause standing water on roadways.

Tuesday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Thursday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 91.

Friday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 92.
