The enthusiastic group started at Five Points and headed down the sidewalk to the South Broad Street bridge before tracking back on a two-hour, 30 minute permit granted by the city.
Church member Buck Jeter said the public reaction was mixed, with one person calling them names and flashing obscene gestures at the group whose youngest member was 18 months old.
“We’re out here to march for Christ because if it wasn’t for Christ, we wouldn’t be here,” said Jeter. “It might be hot out here, but it’s not nearly as hot as hell.”
Members said the march was simply a way to share their faith, and Jeter noted that they’d like to get more congregations involved in similar events in the future.
Words of Faith Tabernacle is located on Rockmart Highway.
