The freezing rain advisory, issued for most of north and central Georgia, warns of possible ice accumulation of around a tenth of an inch.

“Freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties,” according to a report issued Thursday by the National Weather Service. “Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution when driving.”
The report warns that bridges, overpasses and sidewalks are especially dangerous if ice accumulates.
Today’s forecast for the local area calls for a chance of freezing rain before noon, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Total daytime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible.
