Michael Lamelle Lockhart, 46, was at his 585 Trove Drive home Sunday night when he reportedly fired two shots at the victim, who was standing on the outside of the front door, according to Floyd County Jail records.
The SWAT team set up a perimeter around the house while calling him on the telephone, said Rome police Sgt. Jon Black.
“We couldn’t get a response, and SWAT used (its) bomb squad robot to approach the house,” Black said. “That’s when we found out that he had been intoxicated, went to watch TV and basically passed out.”
After police spoke to Lockhart about 12:45 a.m., he went outside, where he was arrested, said SWAT Commander and Floyd County police Capt. Tom Ewing.
Later, police found assorted pipe bombs and assorted chemicals.
“He had a bunch,” Ewing said. “We had to carry it all out in a clothes hamper. We’ll probably dispose of it later this week.”
Lockhart was charged with aggravated assault and had no bail Monday night
