SITTING in the privacy of your own home can get you shot in Floyd County. This was proven beyond a reasonable doubt last Wednesday when Officer Christopher Shea Hovers shot William Thomas Burton for well… being at home. I do not know if Officer Hovers was bucking for rank or it was the urging of his fellow Gang in Blue members, but it should make every citizen in Floyd County take notice. This could have very easily been you.

The frightening thing is the computer error that led to the SWAT team being called in the first place. It’s called the Georgia Crime Information Center. The warrant against Mr. Burton was four years old and had been dropped. Yet the police were not informed of this. Why? It was put in the computer, why wasn’t it taken out when the warrant was dropped? My question is, how many other warrants are still in this piece of “modern technology?”

All of the officers involved in this fiasco should step down. Everyone from Capt. John Blalock to Officer Hovers and all SWAT team members. Their resignations should be submitted at once. The district attorney should seek criminal charges against every person involved in this modern day lynching. But the DA is part of the Gang In Blue and sadly, nothing will ever come of it.

I pray for Mr. Burton every day and hope he makes a full recovery. I then hope he gets a very good attorney and winds up owning Floyd County. I know several who would be glad to represent him.

He must have felt like a caged animal in his attic while the Gang in Blue was storm-trooping through his home.

Why on earth would someone that's just hanging out at home, minding their own business, not having done anything wrong run and hide when a police officer showed up to the house? I mean, talk about making yourself look guilty!

I sit in my attic crawl space all the time. It is normal isn't it? If the police came to my door and knocked I would come out and greet them with some sweet tea.

Seems like everyday when you watch the news or see law enforcement websites that are trying to identify criminals committing crimes the criminals are often wearing hoodies. It appears that the hoodie has become the uniform of the criminal.

Mindy the only ones ranting are the ones slamming the writer of this story. I guess you, along with Rome News, advocate only one opinion on this site. Some newspaper forum this is. The only ones that are left to comment are the scum traitors that advocate for a police state. Truth be told that is the real reason that comments are not allowed on arrests anymore. I guess that I am the only one of the regular posters left that has a differing opinion than the majority here and I don't expect that to last very long since I was kicked off last time I disagreed with one of Rome News decisions

GCIC told officers that he had a warrant on him and yet it's the officers' fault?
