I got to thinking the other day about writing me a song. It’s called “Kick the can down the road, commissioners.” Don’t buy your vehicles, just lease-purchase them (will not cost a whole lot more than if you paid cash). You have to be kidding ! Have you read the fine print on these leases?
“Kick the can down the road commissioners, just let your kids, their kids, their kids, their kids and their kids pay for it. Kick the can down the road commissioners.” Citizens of Floyd County are you getting the message? It’s like them having their own credit card and letting the citizens of Floyd County pay the interest.
Rumor around is that we are going to get a 4 mill increase in our taxes, that was if we did not pass the SPLOST extension (slush fund). Well the citizens of Floyd County did not pass the extension (slush fund), even though some “leaders” in Floyd County bullied us.
I would suspect that there will be other verses to my song in the coming months as there are other SPLOST votes coming down the road, and I might also add about other people other than commissioners. Never know what a fellow might read in the Rome News-Tribune and tidbits in and out of government circles. A fellow might want to ask some questions.
By the way I have not mentioned the $20 million bond the county commissioners took out at .86 percent costing the citizens of Floyd County $485,685 of their hard earned money for three years. But I will. Bet you could have purchased those 10 police cars for cash and had a lot of money left over with the interest money. I miss spoke !! You can’t use SPLOST money for other things than what they were designated by the “citizens committee” wanted them to be for and passed by the citizens of Floyd County. You would not mingle these two accounts would you ?? I sure hope not.
By the way, where is the $20 million you bonded the county for ? You did not buy police cars. Is it in the bank ? Which bank ? How much is left ? Will be waiting for your answer.
