Matt Lattanzi is gearing up for his senior season at Rome High by surging through the spring and summer.

Playing in an Atlanta Junior Golf event on Thursday at Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville, Lattanzi shot a career-best 3-under 68 to take first place in the 15-18 Open age division.

The victory continued a recent hot streak for Lattanzi, who finished tied for first place at an event earlier this month at Royal Lakes Country Club (Flowery Branch) but had to settle for second place after losing a “scorecard tie-breaker.”

Last week, Lattanzi was the highest local finisher at the Burgett H. Mooney Jr. Rome Classic at Coosa Country Club.

Lattanzi shot 82-71-78 during the three-day event, and was followed closely in the standings by fellow local representatives Jonathan Mason (77-74-81) and Mark Kim (81-77-77).

Editor’s Note: Do you have a favorite local golfer who is playing in the RJGA or AJGA summer tournaments? If so, we’d love to hear how they’re doing.
