It was good enough, in fact, for numerous matches to be played on the second day of the Georgia State Junior Closed Challenger despite a forecast that called for showers throughout the day.
Several of the tourney’s top seeded players took advantage of the break in the weather by posting victories.
Casey Markulike, the top-seeded player in the Boys-12 division, earned a 6-0, 6-4 win to advance to the quarterfinals.
In the boys-10, the top two seeded players, Jordan Bruck and Ross Davis each posted victories, with Bruck’s win coming in the semifinals.
In the girls-18 singles, No. 2-seeded Melissa Mashburn moved on with a victory in the Round of 32, as did Samantha Hirshberg in the girls 16.
The tournament resumes today.
