Three new Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteers who have successfully completed 40 hours of specialized training were sworn in Tuesday by Floyd County Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Pape.

CASA volunteers are assigned to a foster child’s case and advocate for the child’s best interest in juvenile court proceedings until the case has been resolved. The goal of the CASA volunteer is to ensure a safe, permanent home for the child as quickly as possible. The new volunteers are Janice Gibson, Mary Stacy and Elaine Osborne.

Currently, there are more than 250 children in foster care in Floyd County and the need for CASA volunteers has never been greater. New CASA training begins June 7. For more information call 706-235-2272 or visit www.floydcountycasa.org.
