Ali Kassam, a Popeyes franchisee out of Winder, Ga., said that the partners have come to a general agreement on terms of the lease for the building and are awaiting some final details to be ironed out.
He confirmed that engineers and architects are working on site plans and drawings for the renovation of the old Mrs. Winner’s on Martha Berry Boulevard.
“We were passing by going to Summerville to look at a business for sale and we liked the site and said, okay, this would be a great site for Popeyes,” Kassam said.
We are looking at four months from now, four and a half months, that’s what our goal is,” Kassam said.
Kassam owns one Popeyes by himself and is a part-ner is several others, including the future Rome store.
When the business opens, Kassam said he would expect to employ 20-25 people.
