DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Police are searching for a man they say brought a loaded gun into a high school outside Atlanta a few days before the start of the school year.

WSB-TV reports that Towers High School Principal Donevin Hoskins noticed a man acting suspiciously during an open house event Wednesday night at the Decatur school and asked him to leave the building.

Hoskins told police he saw the man drop a cap on the ground, and inside the cap was a loaded 9 mm pistol.

Police say the principal got into a skirmish with the man as they both reached for the gun. The man eventually ran off.

Investigators say surveillance cameras showed the man walking the hallways after the open house, but they have not yet identified him.
