If you don’t have a green thumb the Rome African Violet Study Group hopes to help you with that.

The organization is hosting a free “African Violet University” on Saturday at the Rome-Floyd County Library. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Coosa Room of the library, 205 Riverside Parkway.

Half-hour classes will be conducted throughout the day and include planting materials, pest protection, watering and specifics about the parts of the violet.

Violets thrive and bloom indoors and are ideal house plants.

More than 50 different varieties of African violets will be for sale. For more information call Catherine Carter at 706-378-4249.
